Scottie at ScottiesToyBox just posted the following excepts from this article at Salon.com. Rather than a regular repost, I wanted to give the article as much exposure as possible because the information is so downright scary!
One way or another, this guy MUST be removed from office!
The article is entitled:
Trump must remain in power to stay out of prison:
watch what he does after Senate acquits him
Excerpts:
He’s going to put the full weight of his Department of Justice behind efforts to suppress the votes of poor people, young people, blacks, Latinos, women, the LGBTQ community — in fact anyone likely to vote Democratic. He’ll call for “investigations” of every Democratic presidential candidate who’s going up in the polls and announce he’s got “dirt” on every one of them. He’s going to unleash an army of surrogate liars to spread falsehoods about his opponent. He’s going to go from one rally a week to two to three; maybe he’ll hold a rally every other night. He’s going to turn Air Force One into an airborne criminal command post.
He’s going to wave unindicted co-conspirator Rudy Giuliani like a red flag and tweet out every red-meat lie he blabs on Fox. Then he’s going to pardon his indicted co-conspirators like Michael Flynn and George Papadopoulos and Roger Stone and line them up at rallies alongside the murdering war criminals he’s already set free.
Donald Trump is the O.J. of American politics. He murdered American democracy, and his search for the “real killer” produced a villain: Joe Biden.
(…)
Republicans have taken an openly sick delight in electing Trump. They are proud of him. He’s the perfect avatar of their party. All he cares about — and all his entire party cares about — is power. Impeaching Trump won’t remove him from office, and we’d better get serious about removing him at the ballot box. Republicans — Mitch McConnell, especially — have already shown us what they’ll do with the power they will seize with four more years of Trump. They’ll cram that nightmare down our throats.
They’ve already cut taxes for the wealthy and driven the budget into a hole. They’ve packed the federal courts with the simpering incompetent children of the Republican conservative “revolution” and jammed two yes-men punks onto the Supreme Court in a pure exercise of rank political power. If Trump is re-elected, they’ll strip-mine Social Security, murder Medicare and shred the social safety net, and they won’t stop there. Even as the dead bodies from one mass killing after another pile up in the schools, churches, streets and shopping malls, they’ll remove the few controls states have been able to put on gun ownership. They will turn voting into more of an exercise in futility than it already is. They’ll commit every crime they can to nullify the demographic changes that are on the horizon before new voters will have a chance to save us.
Remember … these are simply excerpts. Please read the entire article to get the FULL picture of the crisis that’s facing those of us who truly care about this country … and its people.
I found this sentence of the article to be very apropos and spot on for this disgraceful government and one political party:
Handing the White House way, WAY TOO MUCH executive power and legal(?) leeway, since at least Reagan’s Administration, has set an out of control precedent on the lines of a runaway train. Look now where it has gotten us. 😖

Nancy Pelosi must hold back the impeachment from the Senate unless it is promised a fair hearing which won’t happen as long as senior Republicans say they’ll throw it out regardless. There must be some fairr Republicans who also know how bad Trump is.they must be persuaded to vote their conscience and Trump will be gone.
Hugs

Hello Nan. Thank you for the shout out. We know tRump is going to deny reality and crow he either was acquitted or was never really impeached, but I think few of us are prepared for the unhinged things his rabid administration will push if he gets reelected. It scares me what Stephen Miller might try to do with his hatred of brown people. I worry what will happen with the state department and the military. I figure life will be even harder for most of us in the US if tRump gets another term, plus his party will be in charge of redistricting after the census. Chuck Schumer is warning that if we do not take the Senate it wont matter if we get the Presidency. McConnell has already promised nothing will pass and no judges will be approved for a Democratic president. This is a very scary time with mad men driving the car. Hugs

It is worth a reminder that he was elected into power/office. (even though he received less votes, I understand)
Something to think about ?

We, who are anti-tRumpsky, are well aware of his pseudo-election. 😖

terrifying. One way around the anti-Dem problem: everyone re-register as Republicans and then vote the dude out from HIS side of the room…

HA! Not a bad suggestion! Problem is … we might actually get another Republican president which we do NOT need!

well, being a registered republican doesn’t matter a whisker in the national elections. You just march in and vote for anyone.

So you’re saying that as a registered Republican, we could vote in the primaries for one of the other Republican candidates in hopes of knocking tRumpsky off the General Election ballot? Then vote for a Democrat in the main election?

The electoral college is pretty neat, huh?

Politics and religion have always been about power and control, as millions of lost lives can attest over time. In the past there has always been a slow movement forward towards a better more sane and just society.
But alas, something dark has been hiding for the last 30/40 years and trump, with the help of the republicans, has unleashed fear, hatred and corruption at levels not seen in awhile. And they were able to do this because of willfully ignorant people.
I think it has to run its course, like a bad flu. I only hope it can, before it is too late.

Good hope, Mary, and for your, and everyone else’s sake, I hope a doable one. But is it realistic? Without someone dropping a bomb on Congress with the Senate in session, things don’t look good. But we can dream…

We have an expression that goes something like this: When America sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold. The division and intolerance that seems so much to be the fabric of American society over recent decades, appears to be spreading worldwide. Just look at the rise of the far right internationally, and the number of so called democracies that now have leaders with almost dictatorial powers and seem to be able to ignore the rule of law when it’s convenient.
I don’t have any doubt that if the senate fails to convict Trump, he and his allies will embark on a purge to “clean” the entire establishment of all “un-American” agitators and dissidents, be they political, environmental, economic, religious or social. In some ways the Democrats are playing with fire in pursuing the impeachment. If they loose, they give him licence to behave in a more dictatorial fashion than he has to date.
It is very worrying when the most powerful nation on earth starts to ignore the rule of law both domestically and internationally.

I think you are absolutely correct. This is a big power play aided by the ignorant who are used by the corrupt.
The “fire” has already been lit and the fate of the world is changing.

The question then becomes … how do we deal with this change? Once the die has been cast and “the king” has been crowned, what then?

continue my catharsis of reject.
