What you don’t get, Trump supporters, is that our succumbing to frustration and shaking our heads, thinking of you as stupid, may very well be wrong and unhelpful, but it’s also…hear me…charitable.

Because if you’re NOT stupid, we must turn to other explanations, and most of them are less flattering.

And On and On It Goes

Several bloggers have addressed the topic of the Mueller Report, along with the proceedings that took place on Wednesday, July 24th. Many individuals have offered their thoughts/opinions via comments and other feedback, and while I agree with much of what has been offered, I also disagree with various points.

Rather than visit every source of discussion and offer/repeat my personal take on things, I decided to use this blog to offer some thoughts for your consideration.

1. I tend to think Mueller was hesitant is his responses because he is/was like many others who are (or have been) serving in this administration. They are AFRAID to step too far out of the circle for fear of reprisal. I’m well aware of Mueller’s esteemed qualifications, but it’s still my personal opinion that tRumpsky wields more power “behind the scenes” than most of us are aware of. In fact, IMO, he is nothing short of a “mob boss,” meaning he has control over a very wide network of individuals who will do his bidding … whatever that may consist of. And if you don’t think he’s made this fact known to those who oppose him, you’re living in Alice’s world.
2. It’s my opinion that VERY FEW of tRumpsky’s supporters have read the Mueller report. And I would guess only a very small minority actually watched yesterday’s proceedings. Why should they? Their esteemed leader has declared his innocence in any and all matters addressed in the report. And since Faux News has backed this up, that’s good enough for them.
3. Lastly, while many are advancing the idea of impeachment, I have reservations about the action. Yes, overall, the process itself has merit, but IMO, it will NOT get past the Senate. The Republicans are too firmly in DEBT to “his majesty” to ever force him out of office. And if, as I suspect, he’s taken “off the hook,” I dread to think of the aftereffects many of us will be forced to endure.

Where any of this ends is anyone’s guess. Unfortunately, I tend to think we’re “stuck” with the status quo at least until the 2020 elections. tRumpsky will continue to tweet his lies and nasty insults. He will continue to appoint members to his administration who will do his bidding. He will continue to ruin our reputation among other countries. And he will continue to kiss the butt of those individuals who (as the Mueller Report clearly addressed) helped him win the election.

It’s unfortunate this individual has been able to take advantage of the gullible. But the really sad part is they’re not going to see what he has done to this country (and the world) until it’s too late.

A Message for Trump Supporters

As a general rule, the person who serves as President of the United States is held in high esteem by its populace. While this does not mean all citizens agree with this individual’s actions or decisions, there is overall respect for the office.

However, when Donald J. Trump became the 45th President of the United States, all this changed.

As many of us watched this man ride down the escalator at Trump Tower on June 16, 2015, little did we know what was in store for us when he announced his candidacy. From his first campaign speech and rally to the present, we have witnessed a man who has regularly and consistently insulted, offended, mocked, dishonored, and slandered people who disagree with him.

And you, Trump Supporter, have encouraged and abetted these actions. You may deny this accusation but you have supported (and even cheered him on) as he …

• Mocked a crippled man
• Disrespected women
• Encouraged violence against non-supporters at rallies
• Demeaned African-Americans, Mexicans, Muslims, and other minority groups
• Referred to several nations as “shit-hole” countries
• Defended white nationalists
• Defamed a prisoner of war (after his death!)
• Supported a politician accused of sexual misconduct
• Slandered members of the media
• Labeled his opponents as “bad people” (or even criminals)

And he continues to this day to attack and humiliate any and all individuals who disagree with him.

So my question to you is this: When you support and/or defend Trump’s actions…

WHAT DOES THIS SAY ABOUT YOU?

Does it give you personal satisfaction to applaud and cheer and wave your MAGA sign for a man who is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, and misogynist?

Giving you the benefit of doubt, you may not even be aware that Trump has succeeded in gaining your support because he …

1. Appealed to you emotionally through fear and humiliation
2. Created an enemy that threatens you
3. Emphasized the weakness and incompetence of others

And then he reinforced it all by making a promise to you (through generalities and few details) that he was going to Make America Great Again.

And you believed him.

But now it’s time to face the truth.

Nothing that Donald J. Trump has done thus far has generated a strong and unified nation that other countries admire and respect. Instead, he has created animosity, hostility, and even hatred among its people by emphasizing and playing on our anxieties, fears, and prejudices.

No matter which side of the political spectrum you are on, as citizens of the United States of America, we cannot continue on this destructive path. There is simply too much at stake.

So the question becomes — what are you willing to do to bring our nation together?

The View from the Trump Supporter Box

Excerpt from an article in The Guardian:

They [Trump supporters] think the president is off to a fine start, with understandable hiccups given the extent to which he and his people are honest-to-God government outsiders. They echo White House strategist Steve Bannon’s labeling of the media as “the opposition party” and blame the press for trying to tear Trump down. They see the protesters as petulant malcontents and repeat Trump’s accusation that some of them are surely getting paid to demonstrate.

— “Hiccups”? … More like stumble and fall down flat on your face.

— “Government outsiders”? … Well, yes — because they’re his billionaire friends who don’t have a clue about how government works.

— “The media as ‘the opposition party'”? … More like the truth-telling party.

— “Blame the press”?  … Bwwaaaahhaaaa! tRump is doing it all by himself.

— “Protesters as petulant malcontents”? … More like sane-thinking individuals who are trying to get the rest of the world to do the same.

— “Paid to demonstrate”? … Nope! They’re doing it for free and out of the concern for this country! In fact, most would probably turn down any financial perks.

The individual the article spotlighted rated Trump’s first three weeks in office as pretty near perfect. She added, “I haven’t seen anyone back away from Trump. I haven’t seen anyone doubt. I haven’t seen any retreat.” (Has she been living in a cave?)
