Abortion, Restaurant Shooting, No. Korea, LBGT

Sometimes there are so many things going on in the world, it’s difficult to focus on just one. So I’ve decided to temporarily abandon my usual singular subject post and cover a multitude of topics.

Repeal of Abortion Ban in Ireland

The women are celebrating … the Christians are complaining.

I’ve written before on this very touchy subject so I won’t go into a long, drawn-out commentary except to say I’m thrilled the vote went the way it did. It’s way past time to overturn antiquated laws that deny women’s rights. Go women of Ireland!

Shooting in Oklahoma Restaurant

The NRA folks are just giddy that “good guys” with guns stepped in at an Oklahoma restaurant shooting. Yippee! Hooray! Justification for not only owning a gun, but running to get it out of the car and shooting the bad guy. Yet they have little to say when someone walks into a school with an assault rifle in their immediate possession and kills innocent children and young people!

There’s something else that’s disturbing about this story. One news source reported the incident as follows: “A man who believed he had been under demonic attacks drove to an Oklahoma restaurant and indiscriminately fired at a crowd.” Did you notice the most important words in this sentence? What do those words tell you about the attacker?

Meeting with No. Korea

There’s not much to say about this except that I truly hope it doesn’t take place. As many of you recognize, our president is NOT the Great Negotiator he thinks he is. Further, his primary goal is not to reach any kind of peace agreement with Kim Jong-un, but to enhance his own ego for (finally) accomplishing something notable as POTUS. (Side note: Several in his administration disagree with his decision to go forward, but of course tRumpsky knows best!)

Supreme Court Decision on Discrimination

It seems a decision is forthcoming on the “wedding cake” fiasco. The matter of general discrimination against LGBT people is still being discussed.  The latter is the all-important one as it determines whether businesses can avoid complying with anti-discrimination measures in serving customers, hiring and firing employees, providing health care, and placing children with foster or adoptive parents simply based on religious objections.

To those of us who have strong feelings related to the imposition of religion into the general population, it’s simply unfathomable that human beings (of which we all are) can be denied certain things simply because they don’t fit the parameters of the Christian faith.

OK — I’ve said my piece. The floor is open.

How Secure Is Our National Security?

Following is a comment I made that was prompted by a post related to tRumpsky’s selection of John Bolton as his new National Security Adviser.

I can’t help but wonder … are the “deplorables” so enthralled with their elected leader that they truly think he can do no wrong? Do they actually believe bringing on the war-monger Bolton is a “good thing”? And that we’ll just go in and “whup” No. Korea’s ass if Kimmy-baby tries to give us any more BS? And while we’re at it, we’ll just show Russia and Iran who’s boss as well?

If they truly support this perspective, have any of them considered that American just might not come out unscathed? Or are they so enthralled with the idea of MAGA that they’ve lost sight of everything else?

These are not rhetorical questions. I seriously question the mindset of those who are so enamored with the current POTUS (and Faux News) that they sincerely believe America is going to be the “winner” if we take a militaristic view towards other countries.

P.S. Even though tRumpsky leans towards a more pacifist view regarding Russia, Bolton has long been a Russia Hawk. It will be interesting (for lack of a better word) to see how things play out once the two of them sit down and discuss the situation face-to-face.

Lies, Insults, and BS

I hate to admit it, but I’m getting more and more depressed with each passing day. I know there are things afoot that may (or may not) finally move our Infamous Leader out of our immediate consciousness, but the process is soooo slow. Having to put up with him and all his braggadocio, lies, insults, racism, and pure bullshit is wearing me down.

No matter how hard I try to consider his actions and his words in the same light as his supporters, I’m simply unable to do so. In fact, I oftentimes wonder if they seriously think about some of the things he says and does … or are they so totally indoctrinated by their political leanings that “it’s all good.”

If I were a praying person, I’d be asking whatever god had the power to please, please, please take away this guy … one way or another. No, I’m not advocating the “ultimate end,” but something … anything … to get him out of power.

And in case anyone thinks otherwise — no, I definitely would not be thrilled with the would-be replacement. But at least he knows how to act and talk like an adult. We’d simply have to cross our fingers and hope his intolerable beliefs wouldn’t be acted on and approved before the 2020 elections.

Actually, if the situation with No. Korea is “handled” (as has been promised by our illustrious leader), we may not have to suffer much longer …

Two Words That Will Never Describe Trump

While homes burn and people die due to the devastating and uncontrollable fires in California, and while the death toll continues to rise in Puerto Rico, our illustrious leader is more concerned about such urgent matters as:

  • “Fake news” as he (once again) attacks the news media
  • “Knee bending” (and “disrespect” for the flag, etc.)
  • Signing an executive order to dismantle Obamacare
  • Blaming Obama for the situation in No. Korea
  • The amount of money Puerto Rico “owes” the U.S.
  • Assailing LGBT rights

Aren’t we fortunate to have such a CARING and COMPASSIONATE leader?
