No Additional Words Needed

From Dr. Nicholas Peluso who is an ICU doctor in Tulsa:

I am mentally and physically exhausted. I lived through hell this week. My team is stretched beyond thin. So many sick and dying, all from a “hoax”. A bloated ruse to “microchip” and control you. This isn’t a warning. This isn’t a lecture. This isn’t “fear-mongering”. This is reality. This is where we are. I’m done.

Please don’t ask healthcare workers what to do. There isn’t anything to do but hope. Hope that this thing doesn’t kill hundreds of thousands more. Hope that you or your loved ones don’t get it. Hope that it’s over soon. Hope that our lives can continue.

The time for preparation is over. This country did everything wrong and now we see the consequences. Believe WHATEVER you want. I genuinely do not care. I don’t have the strength or the time to waste arguing.

But mark my words and mark them now. If healthcare workers get sick, this is over. If we fail, so do you. There is no plan B. We have no army of healthcare workers waiting to take our places if and when we make ourselves sick caring for you and your loved ones. It. simply. isn’t. there.

So, I wish this nation luck. I wish my colleagues health and some sort of rest during this nightmare. Most of all, I wish for a nation that trusts its scientific and healthcare communities, listens to suggestions, and heeds warnings.

We are tired. We are worn out. We are your healthcare. If you’ve never needed us before, good for you. If you’ve been through something awful where you needed us and we were there for you, I hope you got the best care and recovered. If you find you need us in 6 to 10 weeks, I hope we will still be able to care for you and we won’t be taking up those ICU beds with our own sick bodies.

I fear we’ve already lost. This is not the nation I grew up in…

Would YOU Scream?

From an NPR article:

The Fuji-Q Highland amusement park near Tokyo has an unorthodox request for its roller coaster riders.

“Please scream inside your heart,” and not out loud, the park is asking. The unusual ask is meant to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus.

While some may be skeptical that it’s possible to quietly ride a roller coaster, a promotional video from Fuji-Q proves that it can be done.

The video shows two stone-faced, suit-wearing, and completely silent executives ride the Fujiyama roller coaster, the park’s main attraction.

Now tell me what’s wrong with this video (besides the mask) …

Reblog: Trump Wanted Closed Borders . . . And Now He has Them

Steve nails it!

Class Warfare Blog

By mishandling the COVID-19 pandemic President Trump has gotten an unintended benefit: closed borders. Of course, the borders are being closed by the other countries involved and not Mr. Trump’s administration, but a promise is a promise. Mexico has closed its border with the U.S. . . . to prevent the spread of the disease that is raging in the U.S. but not so much in Mexico. Canada has closed its border with the U.S. . . . to prevent the spread of the disease that is raging in the U.S. but not so much in Canada. The EU has closed its “borders” with the U.S. . . . to prevent the spread of the disease that is raging in the U.S. but not so much in the EU.

Mission Accomplished, President Trump, Mission Accomplished . . . say it now. . . .

These People …

In a recent tirade on Faux News, Tucker Carlson made the following comment. Considering the source, there is little doubt who he was referring to …

These people actually hate America.

He then goes on to say:

And yet paradoxically, at the same time, they desperately want to control America more than anything.

Am I missing something here? Who is trying to control America … ???

Did Tucker forget the role of that person sitting in the Oval Office at the White House? Has he not been paying attention as this individual has done everything within (and without) his power to “control America” by molding it into a country that only a Confederate flag-waving, gun-toting, immigrant-hating, Jesus-loving, MAGA hat-wearing individual can love?

While people in this country might not agree on how things should be run, I daresay few, if any, actually “hate America.” We may dislike the direction America is heading at any given time and we may be frustrated with those in charge, but this is far, far different that hating America.

Sidenote: In case anyone was wondering, I do not watch his program. I read about his comments in a CBSNews.com article. He was actually demonizing Sen. Tammy Duckworth, but as is typical of the breed, some of his comments included the usual bashing of the “other side.”

An Opportunity to Commiserate

This post is dedicated to those of you who are finding it more and more difficult to deal with current events. Actually, I think we are ALL experiencing the stress of what’s going on in our world right now.

In any event, I thought it might be helpful to offer my blog as a sounding board where you can just let it all hang out.

I don’t know about you, but my circuits have been experiencing overload. I’ve noticed an increase in stress symptoms. My sleep patterns are getting more and more wacky. My jaw muscles hurt from grinding my teeth at night. I seem more susceptible to seasonal allergies.

It’s gotten so I dread reading or listening to COVID-19 news … yet I can’t stop myself. I ordinarily love reading blogs, but so many are focused on the state of disarray we’re all experiencing they end up adding to my discomfort.

(Yes, I know. My own blog posts are not exempt.)

My other-half and I have always enjoyed going out for cocktails and a nice dinner; however due to him being high-risk, we simply cannot justify taking the chance — no matter how many precautions the restaurant has taken. Home cooking is fine, but it does get boring after awhile. We have, on occasion, taken advantage of take-out, but dinner served in a Styrofoam container just isn’t the same.

Each summer we have looked forward to traveling in our motorhome, but this year we’ve had to cancel our planned trips. Neither of us are “into” outdoor activities, sightseeing by car has its limits, and souvenir shopping would be risky. What this means is we would end up spending our days trapped inside our RV … and believe me, that gets old in a hurry!

So now it’s your turn. What’s going on with you and yours? How are you holding up? Please feel free to use this post as a sounding board. Hopefully, sharing your experiences with others will alleviate some of the pressure and frustration we’ve all been experiencing.

I do request that everyone limit their comments to personal experiences and circumstances and avoid any “political” type discussions (e.g., mask or no mask). In other words, this is not the place to argue your POV on what’s going on in the world.

OK! Let the commiseration begin …
