      • Listening to him pontificate and posture and drool is not fighting, it’s awful. The only way we can fight this is with a vote, and we are still at the mercy of the electoral college, lord help us all.

        • He’s claiming the LIVE testimony of his security chiefs is fake news because it makes him look like an idiot. It was LIVE!!! We can go back and watch it! The guy’s psychotic and his supporters are the lowest forms of life out there. What IDIOTS! This is dangerous. Something awful is going to happen.

          • Jodi, your comment is confusing! No one is asking “the Lord” to help.

The point of this post is to pinpoint an article about how Trump is allowing Evangelical Christian leaders to influence him and support laws and regulations that are clearly biased towards Christianity. Non-believers should NOT be governed and/or ruled by believers. No POTUS or any member of his administration should be allowed to force their Christian beliefs on U.S. citizens.

This country was founded NOT on “Christian” values, but on Freedom of Religion. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says that everyone in the United States has the right to practice his or her own religion, or no religion at all.

You can be a Christian any and every day of the week. You can read your bible, attend your church, pray everyday and all day. By the same token, I can live my life minus any and all of these activities. THAT is Freedom of Religion.

          • Jodi, I just realized you were responding to judy when she wrote “lord help us all.”

I would assume you know that’s simply an off-handed remark referencing a common Christian belief. I’m quite certain judy put no “faith” in her “plea.”

        • It’s just an expression, like when people say “when Hell freezes over” to mean “never”. It doesn’t mean they actually believe in Hell.

    • From the beginning, with those idiotic Hitler-style rallies to now, it has only gotten worse. He preens, he smirks, he leers. He has utterly no concept of anything but his own fine self.
And he is a pure narcissist.

I noticed a steep upsweep in bigotry, in the Klan, in anti anything that wasn’t white bread america. Almost from the first day, he has fostered fear and distrust for anyone ‘different”. My husband, as far as I know, thinks he’s just swell.
He knows enough at this point to keep it to a low buzz and not try to involve me in the rhetoric. (shudder.)

  1. I gather many religious folk are citing the ‘Cyrus’ precedent from the Old Testament (for those who don’t know ‘God’ allegedly raised up a non Jewish leader in Babylon called Cyrus to release the Jews from captivity there).

Of course there is one clear difference in that Cyrus appears to be have a good and wise ruler.

By Biblical standards Trump is no Cyrus. Perhaps Samson would be a better precedent, a person with no moral compass who causes mayhem wherever he went and many people commented on his hair. According to the Bible ‘God’ raised up Samson in order to cause difficulties in relations with the Philistines.

  2. “For evangelical leaders, however, the president’s interest in their views has been thrilling.”

Correction: For charlatan leaders, however, the charlatan’s interest in their views has been thrilling.

    Fixed.

“Finding the occasional straw of truth awash in a great ocean of confusion and bamboozle requires intelligence, vigilance, dedication, and courage. But if we don’t practice these tough habits of thought, we cannot hope to solve the truly serious problems that face us — and we risk becoming a nation of suckers, up for grabs by the next charlatan who comes along.

  3. Grrrrr, as I was drafting my VERY shortened comment with the four key critical topics in the article I wanted to address, elaborate on, refute, and correct, I eventually realized it won’t work. It isn’t the least bit effective to win a war that has essentially been waged for many generations of American families and communities — even well before July 4th, 1776.

How does one adequately critique a people or group’s, or an organization’s sociopolitical years (decades? century or centuries?) of educational propaganda, indoctrination, brainwashing without dismantling it/them brick by brick!? Does just firing one or two verbal ballistic missile(s) at these people work, and Voilà… they’re gone, problems solved!?

And yet, here I go… about to do EXACTLY what I don’t really want to do. It goes against every fiber of my being and personality to willingly step in/down into the quagmire of this BULLSHIT ideologies, get my hands, fingers, feet, and face dirty… probably even get cuts and bruises. But no, the metaphorical fortress, walls, and weaponized rhetoric they’ve accumulated over an adult lifetime and from many, many family generations and colleagues won’t even show a tiny dent if I launch one maybe two mega-warheads of 20-50 (or less) offensive words. 😆 Oh well, maybe it will hit the bottom of their magazine of ammunitions — BOOM!!!!! Like the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor. Ready, aim, fire…

YOU PEOPLE ARE NUTS and LOST YOUR ANIMAL MINDS!!! (hums the nursery-rhyme song… who have lost their way… Bah, bah, bah.)

There. Let’s see how that works. 😁
