Who Said This?

Just read this quote. I’ll let you offer some guesses as to who said it.

“We are going to have to guard against a rise in a crude sort of nationalism or ethnic identity or tribalism that is built around an us and a them … the future of humanity and the future of the world is going to be defined by what we have in common as opposed to those things that separate us and ultimately lead us into conflict.”

Interesting, isn’t it? Their bible tells them: “do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed…]” 1 Peter 4:12 – 14.

In other words, stop whining, grow up, move on, and be an adult. So, basically, they told their god to shove it with the advice — that they, themselves, would get revenge by voting for Trump.

            • John, Carmen brought to my attention this written by Greta Christina:

“I don’t know how many times we have to say this: Do not shame or scold people who do not want white supremacists in our lives. Do not tell the people who are most in danger under this regime that we have to make nice with the people who, at best, are indifferent to whether we live or die, and at worst want us dead. Do not blame the victims of this catastrophe by telling us that it’s our fault if it gets worse, because we decided to stop talking to the people who are grinding us into the ground.‬

‪If you, personally, want to talk to people who voted for white supremacy and try to change their minds, knock yourself out. In my less bleak and cynical moods, I might even acknowledge that this might help. But if you are going to shame, scold, and victim-blame the people who are prioritizing the immediate needs of the people most in danger instead of trying to connect with people who have made it clear that they despise us, please get out of my life. And ask yourself: Do you have any boundaries at all? Is there anything someone could do that would lead you to decide they’re not worth your time? And if there is, why on earth isn’t it this?‬”

              Couple that with this: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/rivers/2016/11/not-time-building-bridges/

So I will repeat what I said on Nan’s other post, I am fed up with people telling us that we are just being sore losers, or that we need to take a deep breath, or that we need to relax — and I’ll add what else I’ve heard — that we need to work with this administration and build bridges because, after all, this is all the fault of liberals. Oh really?

As so many sources are now admitting, to support this president means that we condone nationalism, bigotry, sexism, racism, misogyny, homophobia, non-separation of church and state, etc.

And if the conservatives and others who supported Trump claim that we are just acting like sore losers, and being very un-American, consider this from a conservative:

Eliot Cohen served as counselor of the State Department from 2007 to 2009. Here’s what he said today:

I am a national security Never-Trumper who, after the election, made the case that young conservatives should volunteer to serve in the new administration, warily, their undated letters of resignation ready. That advice, I have concluded, was wrong.

            • Sounds like a wise, highly intelligent person. Geez, I wonder how tRump won. BTW, here’s a headline I just read in the Chicago Sun Times: “Trump’s Transition Team Train Wreck.” I week in, and already, things are a mess. Plus, his royal highness tRump doesn’t want to live in the White House. It’ll interfere with his golf schedule, I guess.

    • Oh, good lord! John, this is hate speech as it makes Trump look bad! Stop this!!! You evil man, you! Trump has just made America great again by appointing Pence as President whilst he golfs in Florida. There is no way the uneducated white male could have voted against their best interests here, now is there? Jesus, GROW UP!!!

  1. Thanks to the comments I figured it out 🙂 Well not figured it out, but was led to the answer.

Speaking of hate speech I have been accused quite recently myself. I will have to move in with the Divine One soon enough 😉 I hope he doesn’t have seven cats.
